WHO WE ARE:
The McMurray Sno-Drifters are a non-profit Association that was formed in the early 1980’s. We provide safe and educational winter recreation for individuals and families within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. We also provide education about snowmobiling that includes information about existing By-Laws, Safe Sledding practices, maps of our Trail System, and an App for our Trail System. All of these things ensure safe sledding for all!
We were recently awarded Best Club in Canada for our 2016/17 season. Something we are very proud of and the recognition makes us even more determined to upkeep our efforts to be a world class snowmobile club.
OUR TRAIL SYSTEM:
Through the efforts of our volunteers, sponsors and advertisers the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo community are able to enjoy sledding on 270+kms of award winning Trail System. This includes an award for Overall Snowmobiling in Alberta , Gold Award for Stoney Mountain and the National Award for Snowmobile Club of the Year for all of Canada.
OUR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
While we are a snowmobile club, we have taken on some work that has been off of the sledding trails. We have worked with the RMWB on an OHV (off highway vehicle) trail from the boat launch in Waterways to Saprae Creek. Also, we sat on the Fort McMurray Waterfront Steering Committee. We are busy every year working with many other community groups to help ensure the great success in events such as the Santa Clause and Canada Day as Parade Marshalls, and WinterPLAY or any other community events that may occur during the year. When planning our events we put the focus on collaborative fundraising. We enjoy sharing our fundraising opportunities with other organizations. We prefer to spread the love and volunteer work to other organizations in our community. As a result we have been able to help other groups financially and will continue to do so in our future adventures. We are one of many groups that help make the RMWB a home for families making Fort McMurray a place to WORK, PLAY & STAY.
